Silver Medal Success in UK Regeneration Awards
In the UK BASF Constuction Chemicals (UK) Limited has been awarded the Silver Medal (runner-up) position in the prestigious Regeneration Awards’ Innovation of the Year Category. Organised by leading UK trade magazines
Building, Building Design and Property Week, the Regeneration Awards reward schemes, organisations and people that have helped breathe new life into areas of the UK for local communities.

The Silver Medal was awarded for the housing refurbishment partnership scheme between the London Borough of Hackney, a team of specialist repair contractors and BASF as material suppliers. BASF’s next generation of concrete repair mortars - Emaco Nanocrete - is an important component in the material proposals accepted by the client.
The Supply Chain Arrangements were put together with BASF’s assistance by Hackney Homes, the organisation established to provide high quality housing services and to invest in decent homes and estates to meet the standard throughout the borough. The scheme takes advantage of the opportunities for shared experiences, values and efficiencies. This innovative new partnering approach has won a number of procurement awards in the UK and offers an open and transparent procedure for delivery of work.
BASF has been involved in supporting both Hackney Homes and the constructors in the methodology of delivery and product specification, as the manufacturer and supplier of high-performance products for the scheme. This has been key to the overall success of the partnering approach, which also offers value for money and consistency for any future maintenance.
To assist the smooth running of the five-year agreement, BASF Construction Chemicals (UK)’s Business Development Manager, Mike Threadgold, is based at Hackney Homes two days a week.
Said Ian Wilson, UK Marketing Manager for BASF CC’s Construction Products division: “We were really delighted to receive the Silver Medal in the face of tough competition from other entrants from fields such as architecture and engineering, which are more typically associated with innovation. The Regeneration Awards are generally awarded to new-build projects rather than refurbishment schemes like ours, which makes the recognition of our work all the more gratifying.”
