Highways Agency Selects BASF Cathodic Protection

BASF Construction Chemicals (UK) Ltd has recently completed the first installation of EMACO CP 60 Anode mortar onto a major road bridge for the Highways Agency at the River Derwent Bridge in Derby.

Working closely with the contractor, Concrete Repairs Ltd, and its cathodic protection consultant, Kevin Davies, the BASF team successfully overcame problems to the satisfaction of the Highways Agency's appointed Consulting Engineer.

Some of the complexities encountered during the project included high levels of chloride contamination, large-scale structural concrete repairs and difficult site access.

BASF Construction Chemicals (UK) Ltd was able to offer a complete package of repair solutions, which included EMACO CP 60 ANODE, SHOTPATCH 12, EMACO S103 and NANOCRETE R4 mortars.

Said Andy Gilbert, Regional Manager (England and Wales) - Construction Products: “By drawing on support from Technical, Sales and Customer Services, we were able to ensure the materials were both delivered and applied on schedule to the satisfaction of all parties.”

Success on this project has lead to BASF Construction Chemicals (UK) Ltd supplying several other prestigious Highways Agency projects.
